Workshop for Students: H.M.S. Pinafore - Making Classical Musicals Modern
Thursday 13 February | 12pm - 2pm

FREE with show ticket purchase

In this two-hour workshop Kate will begin with a series of exercises to explore story and character. Taking the spoken scenes from HMS Pinafore the group will then apply the principals to the scenarios.

How can a text written 140 years ago resonate with us today? How do we make a Victorian musical feel new again in 2020?

Note: there isn’t any singing required in this workshop. Students and teachers should come prepared to move, take on challenges and have fun!   Kate will provide  the scenes and it maybe useful for participants to have read a synopsis or even heard a recording of the operetta.
