Education Season

The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre is proud to present quality live performances that teachers and schools can confidently book for children and young people to attend.

We are currently planning exciting shows for you and your students to enjoy from late in Term 2, 2021 so keep an eye on our website, social media, and your email to hear out what's coming up.

Many of the shows in our Education Season will be accompanied by artist-led workshops, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. When the season is announced, simply check the show event page on our website for information on how to book.

EDUCATION SEASON 2021

 

  • THE LISTIES - HAMLET: PRINCE OF SKIDMARK 

Hamlet is already full of things kids love in a good story: ghosts, castles, sword fights, bodily fluids and spooky stuff. Add to the mix some supersonic gags and expertly timed stage magic and you have a brilliantly disguised Shakespearean tragedy for everyone aged five and over.

RECOMMENDED FOR:  Stages K-3

  • FoRT

FoRT is full of ridiculous clowning, spectacular acrobatics and poetic visual imagery that celebrates the kind of creative genius that has been known to turn lounge rooms into volcanoes, trees into castles and cardboard boxes into racing cars.

  • A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Shakespeare’s classic comedy is reawakened in this breathless production from Bell Shakespeare, brimming with magic, mirth and mayhem. Fast, funny and family-friendly, this is  A Midsummer Night’s Dream  reimagined.

DATE: Tuesday 28 September 2021 | 8pm

**REGIONAL ACCESS WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE:  Designed to prepare students for the production, these practical, 75-minute workshops guide students through the plot, key characters, themes, scene work, design, and insights into the production itself. Don’t let your students miss out on the fantastic chance to learn from this acclaimed company. **AUDITION OPPORTUNITY: Students are also eligible to audition for the prestigious John Bell Scholarship! A life-changing opportunity for budding performers, three students will be selected to spend one incredible week training with Bell Shakespeare.   • PETE THE SHEEP 

This hilarious show, adapted by Monkey Baa Theatre Company in 2014 from the picture book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley, is imaginatively told by four performers playing shearers, dogs and sheep. It explores the challenges and rewards of being an individual and will be a lasting tribute to honouring your own spirit and strength, whilst working with the flock.
